Dojo Recap – July, August, and September 2016

We’ve been incredibly busy making a tremendous amount of progress towards Dojo 1.12 and Dojo 2 over the past few months, which has slowed the rate at which we’ve been blogging. Here are some of the highlights:

  1. So I have been waiting for release 1.11.3 at “the end of August” as you promised and now you have just dropped that idea with no comment.
    Terrific!

    1. Santy, https://www.sitepen.com/blog/2014/11/17/introducing-dstore/ explains some of the motivation behind dstore and some of the edge cases that dstore addresses. We are iterating on it quite a bit further for Dojo 2. If it’s working for you now, there’s not a major pressing need to change, though if you use dgrid or run into some of the edge cases we run into with dojo/stores, then you would find it useful. It’s not that much effort to make the switch.

  2. Hello Dylan,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am looking forward for Dojo 2.0
When can I expect dojo 1.x to dojo 2.0 migration guide & Documentation?

    1. We’ll most likely work on the migration guide after we reach the Dojo 2 beta release. Otherwise the APIs will still be in too much flux which would make the guide not 100% useful. We don’t have a final beta date, but we’re striving to get things right rather than rushing a date.

  3. I am no longer going to wait for release 1.11.3 since “the end of August” as you promised then re-promised “sometime in November”. I’m moving to another platform. Dojo is dead to me.

    1. Robert, I’m sorry you feel that way.

Please keep in mind that these are not promises, these are goals, but you can always work against an unreleased branch if there’s an issue that’s blocking you that is already fixed.

I am blocked on the 1.12 release by one regression that we are working through, which is what has blocked us for over a month.

Regardless, I do expect 1.11.3 and 1.12 to ship this month, but I won’t promise it, as we would rather get a release right than ship just to ship a version number.
