Dojo Book 0.9 Released

A great toolkit like Dojo 0.9 deserves great documentation. So we, the doc team, have spent the last 5 months writing, crossing out, rewriting, drawing, merging, folding, spindling, and mutilating. And now the Dojo Book 0.9 is ready for your use! Check out these great new features:

- Examples everywhere! Many use CDN so they'll work on your web server even without installing one stitch of Dojo code!
- Complete coverage of every Dijit component. Each has an example and a handy chart of attributes, methods, and extension points.
- Royal treatment of hot new features like dojo.query
- Diagrams! Syntax-colored easy-to-read code! Easy search!

Everything you need to build robust, fast-performing, feature-rich Dojo apps is there.

But we're not stopping to rest. Oh-ho no! In the next few months, we'll be adding links to the API documentation. We'll add even more examples to part 1. And we'll be incorporating your feedback, crossing i's and dotting t's, editing botched cliche's, and so forth. As long as the Backspace key still works on our keyboard, we'll be there for you!

The link is over there to the left, so please, ... read, reflect, comment, and enjoy yourselves!

Congrats!

Congrats to the doc team. You guys have worked very, very hard on this for a long time, and it shows. Hat's off to everyone who kicked the content into shape, esp the great section on widgets.

Thank You!!

Thanks immensely for your hard work! It was much needed documentation without which adoption rates would be drastically lower.

Thanks

Thank you to everyone for providing us with this very valuable information!

excellent

Thanks so much for the hard work everyone!

Wow, neat

This manual will push dojo forward

Well Done!

This documentation is excellent! Well done. Just what is need. Easy to understand for beginners lots of good examples exactly what good documentation should be. I am sure many more people will start seeing the possibilities of Dojo and start using it in their applications. Some of the other open source software projects should take note!

pdf is friendly off line to see the dojo book.

I hope it can!

You Can Sorta Do It

... by clicking "Printer-Friendly Version" on the title page, then printing the result to a PDF file (there are free PDF printer drivers to do this.) The images currently don't show up, but the result is still pretty good.

Dojo Offline Section Got Messed Up

This is awesome; one thing though. When you copied over the text from the Dojo Offline Google Docs document it messed up all the sample code blocks:

http://dojotoolkit.org/book/dojo-book-0-9/part-5-dojox/dojo-offline/usin...

There is an example there; all the code is on one line now, which makes it hard for people to follow. Can you fix this?

Best,
Brad

My Apologies...

... I was in a rush to make the Sept. 4 deadline, and forgot to get back to clean this up. Will fix it over the weekend Sept. 29-30. Thanks!
